Webinar Title: An Update on CDC’s Response to E-cigarette, or Vaping, product use Associated Lung Injury (EVALI)
Overview: The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) is working with the Food and Drug Administration (FDA), state health departments, and public health and clinical partners to investigate the multistate outbreak of E-cigarette, or Vaping, product use Associated Lung Injury (EVALI). On September 16, 2019, CDC activated the Emergency Operations Center. Currently more than 150 staff members from across CDC and in the field are working to support the investigation. The latest national and state findings suggest e-cigarette, or vaping, products containing THC, particularly those obtained from informal sources (e.g. friends, family members, illicit dealers), are linked to most of the cases and play a major role in the outbreak. This webinar will be broadcast on December 4 at 1 p.m. ET. Topics will include the current status of the emergency response, recommendations, and resources for the public, healthcare providers, health departments, and other groups.
