Course: "Smallpox: Disease, Prevention, and Intervention"

This course was originally developed by the CDC and the World Health Organization for use in the training of smallpox response teams. These presentations are being shared to assist planners and first responders in preparing for the possibility of the use of smallpox as a bioterrorist weapon. The resources provided on this page may be used and modified without permission.

This training was developed for use with Dryvax® vaccine. Another brand of vaccine,ACAM2000™ , has been licensed that, while nearly identical in administration and technique, does have some minor differences; most notably the change to 15 insertions for both primary and secondary vaccinees. Healthcare providers are advised to familiarize themselves with the information in the package insert before beginning vaccination clinics:

CD-ROMs of these slides can be ordered from the Public Health Foundation. Please refer to Item Number ER-032 when placing your order.
