Crisis and Emergency Risk Communication Course (CERC) On Demand Training Courses

CERC Pandemic Influenza

Emergencies are chaotic and to avoid confusion and reduce uncertainty, all official messages communicated to the public should be accurate, consistent, relevant, and empathetic.

Communicating to concerned members of the community will be a paramount responsibility and the right messages delivered at the right time by the right person could save lives. This course will give leaders and communication professionals the best approaches and tools to exercise quality communication before, during, and after a pandemic.

This model of training has been highly successful since CDC presented the first basic CERC training in September 2002, which continues to be taught internationally and nationally.

The course is designed to provide vital communication concepts and tools to assist in preparing for and responding to a severe influenza pandemic in the United States.

This web-based module and CD ROM is designed for anyone interested in communication principles and tools as they relate to what we have called emergency risk communication. The principles in this course borrow from (1) font of classical rhetoricians, (2) wealth of modern crisis, issues management, communication and psychological theory and, (3) lessons learned from the real and often painful world of experience, old-fashioned trial and error.
